Today’s Verses of Hope:
Each one should remain in the situation which he was in when God called him. Were you a slave when you were called? Don’t let it trouble you – although if you can gain your freedom, do so. For he who was a slave when he was called by the lord is the Lord’s freedman; similarly, he who was a free man when he was called is Christ’s slave. You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men. Brothers, each man, as responsible to God, should remain in the situation God called him to.
--1 Corinthians 7:20-24 (New International Version)
Today’s Message of Hope:
Winter is here and It has been snowing a lot where I live. Today I went outside. It was cold, but the crisp air was refreshing. I saw that the snow had melted and among the brush I also saw that a yellow daffodil that I planted a few weeks ago had bloomed. It looked so lovely.
This winter has been harsh with rain, hail, snow and extreme winds. To be honest, I didn’t think these delicate flowers would withstand the harsh winter we were having, yet here they are, growing heartily right where they were planted.
Many of us experience hard times – difficult living situations. But, the Lord tells us that no matter what we are going through, we can be beautiful. We are asked to be who the Lord has called us to be no matter where we live and no matter in what situation we live.
Let Christ work through you. Bloom where you are planted.
Today’s Prayer of Hope:
Lord, may I know that your love transcends all things. May I never forget that there is more to my life here on earth than the material things that surround me. Lord grant me the joy of learning as I seek spiritual direction. Help me to listen to you and grow in my circumstances. Help me to be the light that shines your amazing love and grace. In the name of Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.
